Prof Gatrad works at the Manor Hospital and the Spires Hospital in Little Aston. Without support from the Chief executives, nothing moves but both Richard Beeken and Richard Foulkes respectively have been extremely supportive. What is being learnt and actioned here will no doubt spread to other hospitals. Manor Hospital has appointed Erika Brunt as the Chief Environment officer who is working very closely with Prof Gatrad in aspects of procurement, recycling and also Social Prescribing – which basically is ensuring that a better and healthier lifestyle can not only help physical but also mental health. She is working with Prof Gatrad on the canal clean project. Prof Gatrad has donated 200 mugs for use in theatres and other areas where there is a huge consumption of liquids in plastic cups.
Spires Hospital catering is seriously using less single-use plastic and has made a Green Team with members from each sector in the hospital working towards a better environment.

If you are a health organisation and would like to be featured here then please contact Dr Gatrad at info@wasupme.com.
