Thirty schools are part of WASUP. Mr Anthony Orlik the Executive Head of C E Infant and Junior School at the Blue Coats Federation has worked with Prof Gatrad from the inception of WASUP and has helped catalyse his work in each school. He has sent WASUP posters to all primary schools and is the architect of the Plastic exhibition on the 5th July 2019 at Walsall College.

Emma Buck and Michelle Sheehy from Millfield School will be hosting various canal trips for those schools interested in Canal cleanups.

Davina Clacy the head of Old Church School has worked with Simon Hall to help produce the WASUP song.

Mr Keith Whittlestone has disseminated WASUP information to various secondary schools in the borough.

Millfield School is in close proximity to a canal and has now adopted a part of it. It is planned that there will be fortnightly trips down the canal with the Canal authorities.

St-Giles C.E Primary School

All at St Giles’ are committed to providing the highest standard of teaching and learning pastoral care and broad co-curricular and extracurricular experience. The school aims to provide academic challenge and stimulate a love of learning enabling all children to make good progress from their individual starting point. By providing a well-structured and engaging curriculum, and by promoting good behaviour through our Christian ethos, we aim to enthuse in all children a love of learning as well as respect and care for each other.

Working with WASUP

St-Giles is committed to the WASUP as we believe the World has a plastic pollution problem which is causing harm to the creatures that live in the ocean, from coral reefs smothered in bags, to turtles gagging on straws, to whales and seabirds that starve because their bodies are jammed with bits of plastic. Our aim is to educate our children about the plastic waste and the large proportions which never get recycled and is damaging the environment and affecting the food chain.

Millfield Primary School

At Millfield we firmly believe in the development of the whole child and that a huge part of this learning happens naturally – outdoors. Every child is encouraged to learn by taking and managing their own risks, problem solving and working together as a team whether they are camping, canoeing, or mountain biking or learning at school in our wildflower meadow, orchard, allotment, bird hide, pond or narrowboat.

Working with WASUP

Our environment is really important to everyone at Millfield which is why we are currently working closely with the Canal and River Trust to adopt the stretch of the Wryley and Essington Canal that our school sits on. Becoming the home of the Plastic Fishing Boat will also help us, and other schools involved with WASUP, to continue clearing rubbish out of the canal.
